We've seen for many years now the must have toy of the year and just so it happens the big release is right at Christmas time.
I rember a few toys being what was called "The Ultimate Gift" of the year....XBOX,WII, PS3 and Nintendo DS and who could forget the Cabbage patch dolls.
Several years ago there was a doll that was known as "The Ultimate Gift" it was the "Tickle me Elmo Doll". You would tickle it and it would say " ooh that tickles".
This doll, a $29 doll would sell for several hundred dollars with the highest amount paid that i recall was to a woman in Florida for $3500.00!!!!!
ELMO as The Ultimate Gift? Thats the meaning of Christmas?
There is plenty of excitement for and during the Christmas season. I would be foolish to say that even i am not somewhat excited when Christmas time comes around.
It seems that every year the Christmas season begins earlier and earlier in the secular world for the sole purpose of financial gain. Year after year everyone gets so pumped up about "Black Friday", you know, the biggest shopping day of the year! The day after Thanksgiving when people begin to camp out at stores so they can be one of the first to try and get the biggest deal of the year, "The Ultimate Gift".
I remember one year i got suckered into a Black Friday event let me say it was the first and the last!
I went to purchase a trampoline for my two children that wa supposedly at a huge discounted price.
I remember standing in isles at the store, looking around at the people that was there and thinking I'm not the only idiot standing here to get a good deal.
Well, they started the countdown from 10,9,8,7....i looked around at heard buggies bumping into one another as a race car driver would rev the engines awaiting the green flag to be waved. As the countdown 6,5,4,3,2 was coming to the end the excitement was building to extreme level. Then, the store manager reached the #1...then he silenced for what seemed like a minute and during that silence the people would seem to be agitated. When about the time the agitation seemed to be reaching a high level..... he screamed "HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!!!!!" and let me say, the MADNESS!!! began. It was horrible to say the least with all the cursing because someone got something that they didn't get or there was scuffling amongst the shoppers over certain items.
I have really good news for you, if you want to get genuinely excited about Christmas just read Luke 2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. "The Gift Above The Tree"What does this mean? Well, This Gift has a Gift for you!
1. This Gift wants to forgive you of everything you've done wrong.
2. This Gift wants to give you a pupose and power to live today.
3. This Gift wants to give you security of knowing that you have a home in Heaven.
You will never receive a better Gift! Forgiveness,Help,& Security....That's Salvation!
You need to seek the truth and then you need to experience the JOY and realize that God has "The Ultimate Gift" for you.
John 10: 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
God gave us "The Gift Above The Tree"
Now, I challenge you today to give your Gift to Him. You may say what in the world could i give God?
You could give Him your life that's the Gift He desires from you.
Before there was a Death,Burial and Ressurection there had to be a Birth! So we celebrate at Christmas time the Birth of The Greatest Gift we can ever receive, JESUS CHRIST! So remeber the real meaning of Christmas is not the gifts under the tree but its "The Gift Above The Tree"
